About Us

Frozen Limestone Publications was founded in 2022 in Canmore, in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. We specialize in guidebooks to winter climbing in our local area, including the first print guide to mixed climbing in the Rockies in over 15 years.

In 2023, after identifying a hole in the existing selections of crampon and ice screw carriers, we began experimenting with lightweight fabrics and designed. Later in 2024, we expanded to start offering a line of Frozen Limestone Gear items, focusing on ultralight winter climbing accessories built for the approaches and routes of the Canadian Rockies.

Our Staff

Frozen Limestone Publishing is owned and operated by Nick Baggaley. Nick has lived in the Bow Valley for over 8 years, and has been climbing in winter, summer and in between ever since moving here. Nick is an ACMG-certified Apprentice Alpine Guide working for Yamnuska Mountain Adventures, and can often be found out introducing guests to the mountain environment he loves, or teaching skills for traveling in and to those places. When he’s not doing that, he’s often out climbing alpine ridges, faces and frozen waterfalls in the Rockies and beyond.

Greg Barrett is a winter climbing addict with a mild dry tooling obsession. He has lived in the Bow Valley since 2017, splitting his time between software development and mountain play. A self described weight weenie, his predilection for shaving grams out of his own pack has metastasized into a vision of knocking weight off everyone else’s back too, and he was the driving force between Frozen Limestone Gear. He is an ACMG-certified Apprentice Rock Guide that aspires to push deeper into the mountain guiding stream. When summer eventually persuades him to hang up his tools, he can be found mountain biking, trail running, or off somewhere, tied into a rope.
